Shaking from the quake measured an “upper 6” on the Japanese intensity scale of 7 in Abira in western Hokkaido. That is the strongest shaking felt in Japan since powerful temblors struck Kumamoto, in southern Japan, in 2016.
And Now For The Buried Story
The MSM is once again downplaying the latest earthquake to strike Japan, misleading the public by misapplying the International moment magnitude scale (1 – 10) calling this a magnitude 6.7 instead of the Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity scale of 9.6 out of 7 the earthquake was reported with? What they hiding the Nuclear Proctologist explains in depth.
No pun intended 😉
Japan Times reported in the first paragraph:
At least nine people are dead and 31 unaccounted for in Hokkaido after a magnitude 6.7 earthquake — reaching the maximum 7 on Japan’s seismic intensity scale in some areas — caused landslides that engulfed houses early on Thursday.
25,000 Troops head to Northern Japan and Hokkaido’s Tomari Nuclear Power Station – allegedly shut down for maintenance to avoid a nuclear meltdown. NHK took aerial footage over the town of Atsuma where the Island encountered massive landslides throughout the Island.
The Tomari Nuclear Power Station, which has been shut down since the 9.1 earthquake and tsunami struck in 2011, suffered a power outage but was cooling its fuel rods safely with emergency power, said Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga. Operator Hokkaido Electric reported no radiation irregularities at the plant, Suga told a news conference.
Abe arrived at his office before 6 a.m. and told reporters his government had set up a command center to coordinate relief and rescue. Sounding haggard, Abe said: “saving lives was his government’s top priority.”
Spent fuel in storage pools were safely cooled on back-up power that can last for a week, the agency said. (how re-assuring)
